Squad Groups
Our General, Women’s & Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, Trampoline & Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) squad groups participate in competitions from Club level all the way to Hertfordshire County, East Region, National and International level.

Joining Squad
Entry into any of the MGC competition squads is by invitation and/or trial.
We may run open trials for our squads which will be advertised through our social media pages.
If you have moved into the area or are looking for a competitive club and would like to be considered for a squad trial, please fill in the form below and we will be in touch.
Women’s Artistic Squad

WAG 6 - train 1 time per week (2 hours)
WAG 5 - train 1-2 times per week (up to 4 hours)
WAG 4 - train up to 2 times per week (up to 4 hours)
WAG 3 - train up to 3 times per week (up to 10 hours)
WAG 2 - train up to 4 times per week (up to 12 hours)
WAG 1 - train 4-5 times per week (up to 18 hours) -
In Women’s Artistic Gymnastics there are different levels and pathways for gymnastics to take from County to National to International level within British Gymnastics competition structure.
Grades
Grades are usually set moves to be performed on the appartus with gymnasts achieving an overall mark of working below, at, above or beyond.
County Grades - Herts county competition only
County NDP Grades
preparation grades - no regional finals
development grades - leading to Regional Finals
Regional NDP Grades - Performance grades leading to National Finals
Regional Excel Grades - these grades lead to National Finals & are part of the qualification process to the British Championships
Classic Challenge
These levels of competition have set requirements but the skills to fulfil them can be chosen.
County Steel & Tin - no regional final
County Zinc & Copper -leading to Regional FInals
County Bronze - qualifier to Regional competition
Regional Bronze, Silver & Gold - leading to National Finals
Regional FIG Development - leading to National Finals & are part of the qualification process to the British Championships
Region / Home Nations / British FIG
These rules are used in regional and home nations competitons as qualification to the British Championships and squad selections.
Aspire - 12-13yrs in year of compeition
Junior - 14-15yrs in year of competition
Senior - 16yrs+ in year of competition
Squad Selection
County Squad - selection is made by the County coach based on the previous years competiton results or by trial
Regional Squad - selection is made by the Regional coach based on the previous years competiton results or by trial.
English Squad - selection is made by English Gymnastics from Home Nations competitions and gymnasts may be invited to represent England at International competition.
British Squad - election is made by British Gymnastics from their competitions and gymnasts may be invited to represent Great Britain at International competition.

Men’s Artistic Squad

MAG 3 - train 3 times per week (up to 6 hours)
MAG 2 - train 4 times per week (up to 10 hours)
MAG 1- train 5 times per week (up to 20 hours) -

DMT & Trampoline Squad

DMT - train 1-2 times per week (up to 4 hours)
Trampoline - train up to 4 times per week (up to 8 hours)

Our Double Mini and Trampoline squads follow both British Gymnastics and English Gymnastics pathways to compete at Regional, National and International competitions.
Grades
These compose of compulsory routines/passes and minimum requirements for optional routines/passes.
Qualifier 1 - regional competition
Qualifier 2- regional competition
Eastern Region Final -For those that qualified by competing 2 full routines or 4 full passes at one of the Q1 or Q2 competitions
Inter-Regional Challenge Cup - The top 2 from the Eastern Region Final will be invited to represent the East team at this event
British Gymnastics FIG Series
This is the top level of competition in Britain and has minimum requirements for routines & passes. The age groups for the competitons are as follows::
National Age Groups - 10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-21, Senior
British Championships – Youth (10-12), Junior (13-16), Senior (17+)
The competition consists of:
Qualifier 1 - national competition
Qualifier 2- national competition
National Age Group Final - for those meeting the competiton requirements and ranking from the qualifiers
British Championships - the top 16 from the National Age Group Final will progress to the British Championships.
English Gymnastics
This is the Home Nation competition pathway split into Silver & Gold levels. There are minimum requirements for routines and passes at each level. Within Gold there are age groups and ‘Masters’ groups.
Qualifier 1 - national competition
Qualifier 2- national competition
English Championships - the top 24/32 ranked from the qualifers progress to the English Championships.
National Squad Selections
English Squads - Those competing in the English pathway may be selected for a squad with the potential for international competition representing England
Foundation (9-13)
Junior (13-16)
Senior development (17-21)
British Squads - Those competing in the British pathway may be selected for a squad with the potential for international competition representing Great Britain
Junior Development (11-12)
Junior (13-16)
Senior & Senior Development (17+)
